AUTHORITIES in Long Island are investigating a traffic accident that claimed the life of a man on Monday morning.
According to reports, a dump truck and a small pick up truck collided at Queens Highway, Salt Pond, Long Island at around 10:30am.
A short time later, police said the resident doctor on the island pronounced the driver of the pickup truck dead at the scene. He was a resident of Thompson’s Bay, Long Island. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
Officers from the Police Traffic Department in New Providence are assisting police in Long Island with the investigation.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist them with this case to come forward.
The incident follows a traffic accident in Eleuthera over the weekend that led to the death of a 19-year-old male resident of the James Cistern settlement.
That accident happened at 12:30am on Saturday when the victim reportedly lost control of his vehicle.
