A MAN and a woman were arrested after police allegedly found them with one pound of marijuana.
Police said the 35–year-old man and 31–year-old woman were arrested around noon on Friday.
Officers from the Mobile Division, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant at the suspects’ home on Key West Street.
It is claimed that the officers found the drugs inside the home.
The suspects are expected in court next week to face formal charges.
• Police arrested five people, seized a handgun along with several suspected stolen vehicles during an overnight operation on Saturday.
Police said ”Operation Crackdown” targeted persons wanted for a number of serious crimes, including people involved in the sale of drugs and possession of firearms.
One of the suspects is being held for murder and the others for suspected stolen vehicles and drug possession.
On Friday, police arrested 32 more people from various parts of the island as they intensified “Operation Lockdown”, a policing strategy designed to curb the menace of criminal activity.
A number of the suspects are being held for armed robbery and drug possession, police said.
Both operations were carried out under the command of Assistant Commissioner Leon Bethel.
