THE Bahamas added a couple more medals as they headed towards successfully defended their title last night at the XXX CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Bridgetown, Barbados.
However, the final point standings and medal count were not available up to press time last night.
Lilly Higgs highlighted the final session last night when she set a new Carifta record, clocking 1:14.35 to erase her older sister, Albury Higgs’ time of 1:14.91 she set last year to take the gold in the girls 13-14 100m breaststroke, followed by Victoria Russell with the silver in 1:15.61.
Albury Higgs came back and got some redemption by touching the wall first in 1:15.18 to clinch the gold in the girls 15-17 100m breaststroke.
Also in some of the results posted, Joanna Evans won the girls 15-17 50 metre freestyle in 27.08 seconds and Izaak Bastian struck gold in the boys 13-14 100m breaststroke in 1:08.27. Virginia Stamp picked up a silver in the girls 13-14 200m backstroke in 2:32.05 and Davante Carey got a bronze in the boys 11-12 100 breaststroke in 1L17.76.
Results of the remaining events, including the 200m free relays in all divisions, were not available at press time.
