A MAN was charged in Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with a firearm and ammunition seizure that occurred during the Easter holiday weekend.
Navardo Grant, 31, of Yellow Elder Gardens, stood before Magistrate Andrew Forbes facing a count each of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
It is claimed that he was found with the firearm and ammunition on Easter Sunday, April 5.
Grant, who pleaded not guilty to the offences, was charged with being in possession of a Luger 9mm pistol and 15 live rounds of ammunition for the weapon.
The handgun is one of 127 firearms seized in the country for 2015 while the 15 bullets account for 2.4 per cent of live ammunition seized.
Grant is now scheduled to appear before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on April 15 for a fixture hearing to determine a trial date for his case.
Magistrate Forbes denied him bail and remanded him to the Department of Correctional Services until his next court appearance.
Grant was not legally represented at yesterday’s arraignment.
