St John’s Native Baptist advances to 15-and-under final in the AID Basketball Classic

DEFENDING champion and pennant winning St John’s Native Baptist Church was the first team to book their spot in the Baptist Sports Council’s 2015 AID Basketball Classic championship series.

On Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex, St John’s advanced to the 15-and-under final by completing a two-game sweep over the Eagles Nest.

They will now await the winner of the series between Macedonia and BIBA that is tied at 1-1. The third and deciding game will be played on Saturday at noon when the action switches to the AF Adderley Gymnasium.

The best-of-three championship series will get started on Saturday, April 24 at the AF Adderley Gymnasium, starting at noon.

In the 19-and-under division, the two semi-final series are tied at 1-1 with the third and deciding games scheduled for Saturday at the AF Adderley Gymnasium following the 15-and-under clincher.

In the first game, pennant winning Macedonia will face BIBA and Faith United will take on Cousin McPhee. The two winners will advance to the best-of-three final on Saturday, April 24 at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.

Also on Saturday, the Eagles Nest advanced to the men’s B divisional final after they swept aside Evangelistic Centre in two straight games. They await the winner of the other half of the series between Men of Vision and Mt Tabor. Men of Vision hold a 1-0 lead.

And in the men’s A division, Macedonia and Cousin McPhee both hold a 1-0 lead in their respective series against Faith United and New Mount Zion.

The men will play on Saturday at the AF Adderley Gymnasium following the 19-and-under games.
