A 22-year-old Freeport man was charged with murder in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court this week.
Quincy Antonio Coakley of Hudson Avenue appeared before Magistrate Rengin Johnson in Court Three. He was charged with the murder of 28-year-old Clayton Rufus Brown, of No 15 Lawrence Close, Freeport.
Brown was discovered at Adventurers Way around 4am on Tuesday with stab wounds in his chest. He was rushed to Rand Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His death is the fifth homicide in Grand Bahama this year.
Coakley was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge. He was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services until July 23 when a preliminary inquiry will be held.
In other court news, Sirrano Adderley, 19, of Seahorse Village, and Stefano Major, 25, of West End, were charged with stealing before Magistrate Charlton Smith in Court Two.
It is alleged that on April 9, the pair stole a boat. They both pleaded not guilty and elected trial in the Magistrate’s Court. The matter has been adjourned to April 15 for bail hearing.
