The combination of sprinter V’Alonée Robinson, hurdler Krystal Bodie and quarter-miler Katrina Seymour are the first of Team Bahamas to take advantage of the training session at the Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium in preparation for the IAAF/BTC World Relays Bahamas 2015.

The trio worked out yesterday and are looking forward to joining up with the rest of Team Bahamas between today and Thursday just before the start of the relays on Saturday and Sunday nights.

“We’re still doing our individual stuff to get ready because everybody is not here yet,” said Robinson, who will be running on the women’s 4 x 100 team. “When everybody reports in, I think we should be good and ready to go.”

Last year, Robinson ran the opening leg on the team that comprised of Sheniqua ‘Q’ Ferguson, Caché Armbrister and Anthonique Strachan, who finished second in the B final in 43.66 seconds. This year, the 4 x 100 pool is expected to comprise of Robinson, Bodie, Brianne Bethel, Adanca, Tayla Carter and veteran Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie.

“I’m very excited. I feel very confident in this team. I just think that we will do the best that we can and God will provide the rest for us,” Robinson said.

This will be Bodie’s first time making the team and like Robinson, whom she had a chance to compete with when they both attended St Augustine’s College and Auburn University, she too is excited about representing Team Bahamas this year.

“To be a part of the 4 x 1 team is a privilege,” she said. “I’m looking forward to it because we have a lot of talented people on the team. Once we can come together and sit down and discuss how we will put the team together and we go out there and give it our best shot, I think we will perform to the best of our abilities.”

Robinson, a high hurdles specialist, said after watching all of the excitement last year from the stands, she’s eager to get the chance to perform for the Bahamas this year.

Seymour is back on the women’s 4 x 400 team and although she didn’t run in the final with the team of Lanece Clarke, Christine Amertil, Shakeitha Henfield and Miriam Byfield that got second in the B final in a season’s best of 3:31.71 behind Australia (3:31.01), she feels they have a good crop of quarter-milers to compete this year.

Along with Seymour, the other members of the 4 x 400 pool for Team Bahamas are Clarke, Amertil, Shaquania Dorsett, Bianca Farrington and D’Nia Freeman.

“This year I’m very excited going into the meet. I have high expectations for my 4 x 4 team. With God on our side, I believe anything is possible,” Seymour said. “I think this team looks better and stronger than the one last year, but we will just wait on the performances and see how it goes.

“I just want to go out there and execute my race, finishing it strong without any injuries and making the Bahamian fans excited. I’m looking forward to us pulling off the win.”

The heats for both the women’s 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 are set for Saturday night and the finals for both events will be contested on Sunday night.
