FROM Grand Bahama in the north to Inagua in the south, the 11 beauties vying for the titles of Miss World Bahamas, Miss Universe Bahamas and Miss Earth Bahamas came from all over to be officially introduced to the public during the launch of “Beauty by Nature – the 2015 Miss Bahamas Beauty Pageants”.
The event, held at Avista Lounge on Elizabeth and Bay Streets last Friday, drew a crowd of cheering hardcore pageants fans, as well as friends and family members of this year’s hopefuls who came out to show support for their favourites. They were not disappointed as the contenders, beautifully adorned in dresses by Bahari and footwear by Statement Shoes, made official their bid for the pageant crowns.
The contestants have an exciting line up of preliminary competitions and events which promise to make this, the 10th anniversary year for the Miss Bahamas Organisation, the most exciting pageant season ever. The Venus swimsuit competition is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, at the restaurant Lukka Kairi, and the Commonwealth Fabrics Top Model competition will be held a day later at Bahamas National Trust, featuring the designs of BTVI students and authentically Bahamian bags by Royce Huyler.
On August 19, they will pay a courtesy call on Governor General, Dame Marguerite Pindling at Government House. On August 28, the ladies will compete in the Evening Gown and Talent Competition at Sapodilla on West Bay Street. On Saturday, September 5, the young ladies will parade through the streets of New Providence wearing their National Dresses and National Costumes. The motorcade will end at Rawson Square, where they will be judged. They will then make several media appearances before competing in the grand finale on September 13 at the Atlantis Theatre, Paradise Island, where three crowns will be won in two pageants on one eventful night.
Once again, the Bahamian public will get to send one young lady directly to the top three of each competition with the People’s Choice fan vote. You can vote for your favourite contestant by visiting their pages at www.missbahamas.net. The young ladies receiving the highest number of votes in each pageant will automatically advance to the finals.
Tickets for all are available at Airbrush Junkies in the Mall at Marathon, select A Sure Win locations, or from any of the contestants.
