POLICE in New Providence are sending "additional assistance" to officers in San Salvador in trying to locate a 40-year-old man that has been missing for almost a week, The Tribune has learnt. Chief Superintendent Clayton Fernander, acting officer-in-charge of the Central Detective Unit, told The Tribune on Friday that a team of officers from New Providence are en route to San Salvador to further bolster the search party for Pedro Levant Williams, who was reported missing on Sunday.

Chief Supt Fernander said local police, along with people in the community, have been searching vigorously for Mr Williams since he was last seen at approximately 9.30pm on Sunday.

However, he said the search thus far has been unsuccessful.

"We have of team of officers travelling there now to assist in looking into that, but no we don't have no report that he was found," Chief Supt Fernander told The Tribune. "We're still searching for him.

"Officers are on the island, and people in the community were assisting them in looking for him. So we're sending additional assistance to them to see if we could come up with anything."

Chief Supt Fernander, who told The Tribune that he also hails from San Salvador, added: "We got to find him."

Mr Williams is described as a light brown male, approximately 5ft 10in and weighing 220lbs.

People with any information on Mr Williams or information regarding any crime are urged to call police at 919 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) in New Providence or 1-242-300-8476 for the Family Island.
