The Evangelist Eugene Munroe Music Ministry will celebrate “the real reason for Christmas” during a special concert on Sunday night.

“Celebrate Jesus”, an annual concert hosted by the ministry, seeks to encourage people to take time and reflect on the gift of Jesus Christ. It begins at 7pm at The Church of God East St Cathedral.

The concert will feature performances by Solo, Minister N Lynes, Jill Cleare, Apostle L Lynes, Hubert McIntosh, Spirited, Unlimited Angel and Mr J. The event will be hosted by Minister Kevin Harris.

Mr J, organiser and first-time performer of the “Celebrate Jesus” event, told Tribune Religion that they want people to be reminded to make Jesus the focus of the season.

“The purpose of the concert mainly is to highlight the reason for the season which is Jesus Christ. So we are trying to get persons in that frame of mind and get them to celebrate the true reason for the season,” he said. “All of the artists performing have their own unique message they hope to share with audiences,” Mr J said.

“We hope that the artists performing will communicate a message that leaves an impression on persons, so that they remember the primary focus of this time should be Christ. We should remember to set some time aside in personal reflection, to take time to worship God and truly be thankful by expressing that thanks in act of praising of him, and acts of worship,” he said.

It is easy to become sidetracked or focused on other things that may be also be important. However, Mr J said when it comes to a personal walk with Christ that should take precedence over everything.

“Many of us throughout the season don’t even bow down on our knees and say ‘God I worship you for this time, for the joy and goodness we feel through the season’. So we want to encourage persons to do a personal reflection and praise Jesus because he allow us to experience such gladness,” Mr J said.

Evangelist Eugene Munroe Music Ministry has been around for 35 years and has, since its inception, sought to spread the gospel. Mr J said “Celebrate Jesus” will share the musical gifts of several talented Bahamian artists and will leave an impression on all who attend. “We are expecting a powerful testimony and ministry from the performers,” he said.

Admission to the concert is $15.
