Teachers and now students. This place is beyond ridiculous. The crime is getting more and more brazen and the spillover is expanding rapidly. It is obvious that the leadership is completely out of its depth.

Regardless the leader ship can not stop persons from killing each other The evil comes out of the heart and mind. Who knows how to make these changes only God ,if one allows God to do so. I am very sorry for the student and his family. and the accused has messed up their life and has caused much pain for their family.

Then stay home next election and dont vote - God is not on the ballot after all.

I actually agree with birdie. This is a hearts and minds issue. No amount of laws will resolve it.
Publius 8 years, 11 months ago
@Thisisours all actions of humanity against humanity involve heart and mind so that part indeed goes without saying. In birdie's case though, if another government was in power he/she would no doubt find a way to place blame their way though - hence my sarcasm at his/her post.

"Regardless the leader ship can not stop persons from killing each other", if this is so then why did the PLP lie to the Nation and say they had the answer to crime on day one? The PLP used crime to get elected, can they please now admit that they LIED? What kind of people LIE to get a job and when found out are not fired, only a politician, pure fraud, no ethics or morals, just a lust for power!

No, the leaders cannot kill or stop persons from killing each other but they can pass harsher laws for offenders. Tell me, have you seen one anti-crime law passed under this administration? We've seen the numbers houses regulated and a Stem Cell Research bill passed but nothing on crime or immigration the two most vexing problems.
We have a crisis in leadership.
Do you ever wonder why people blame the Government? Because they can pass legislation to stop most of these issues but they are happy to just sit on their as**s collect our tax payer dollars and do nothing. Special interest groups are taken care of.... citizens be damned!

The video of the incident is still floating on social media. Sad that after a fairly peaceful school year, school must close with an incident like this. Murder. A student murdered by other students. All in uniform. All in broad day light. Two more sets of families grieving as warm blood flows again on the pavement, taking another life with it: leaving so many more shattered ones behind. My his soul rest in peace'

Sad that someone stood and recorded it...it's just weird. We're all being numbed to images of violence by irresponsible use of cellphones, WhatsApp and fb.

The government has been advised for a number of years to put more forces in the junior and senior high school to identify gang members and curtail their activity, violence especially.

What about the parents? What is going on in the homes. What is in the homes comes out into the society, The government has its role. but the home is the first church and the first school, I know some parents try.

Maybe it's time to establish a "gang" hotline where students who are being harassed by gangs in school can call and report them. And one for the community where the general public can report gang members, gang activity and send pics and videos anonymously
Sickened 8 years, 11 months ago
I like your idea and I think it could work. Many kids overhear other students plotting to beat up or "get" another kid after school. They should be able to report it to the police anonymously and hopefully save a life. I haven't seen the video but it MAY be that whoever recorded it heard that something was going to happen to this kid (hopefully not a stabbing) and wanted to see it. VERY, VERY SAD!!

Saw another incident with Doris Johnson students at that same area earlier this school year. After-school traffic was disrupted by male and female DJ students flinging palm-sized rocks at each other across four lanes of traffic. No concern for themselves or the public; why are these children so wild and out of control? Saw the mass of students there yesterday again as we headed home, but they were mostly quiet. Saw the flashing lights, police car, ambulance and figured someone had been hurt. Sad to hear the young man later died.

I blame the slack homes and slack schools and the slack churches and finally the slack government ........... in that order. But seriously, this incident did not just start yesterday, so where were the red flags to deal with on-going issues?????????
Aren't there police, school security and eight administrators in each high school????????
ms_frustrated1 8 years, 11 months ago
THIS IS SOOOOOOOOO TRUE!
I said the exact same thing! There must've been some red flags at some point and it was either ignored or the administrators brushed it over!

Poorly socialised human beings raised in single parent homes, usually by parents who were children themselves when they got pregnant -- and in many cases were sweathearts of older men who were already attached. As you sow, so shall you reap.

The Potcakes of Nassau have more sense and manners than the school children of Nassau. Which one walks in the middle of the road, a pack of children or a pack of Potcakes?
