A 26-year-old Bahamian man fishing in waters off Andros has been attacked and seriously injured by a bull shark, the US Coast Guard confirmed on Friday.
Richard Pinder of Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, reportedly suffered bites to the hand and stomach while diving for lobster in waters 70 miles south west of Andros. Mr Pinder has been transported to Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau for treatment.
Chief Petty Officer Ryan Doss of the US Coast Guard said that that Mr Pinder’s father radioed the Coast Guard for help from a nearby trawler.
