It’s been 11 years since she first discovered her passion for fitness, and today Sirena Ingraham runs what she describes as the ideal gym facility for women.
As a professional trainer and owner of Women’s Intuition on Rosetta Street, Ms Ingraham is urging people to get back to basics when it comes to fitness.
“It all began in the summer of 2004 when I was an active member at the Curves gym. The coach and personnel at that time helped me discover the love, joy and passion I have in fitness. In fact, they witnessed such a great drive and determination in me that I was offered a position as a fitness tech. I was sent off to training in Florida and leapt into this profession immediately and fell in love,” Sibrena told Tribune Health.
Adding her very own unique twist to fitness training, she later opened Women’s Intuition. She said the idea behind an all-women’s gym is to create a comforting and relaxed environment where clients can just be themselves and be accepted.
“I love the mixture and diversity of my clients. I meet persons from different origins and all walks of life. We at Women’s Intuition are a close-knit group of women that encourages each other to work hard and stay focused. We build friendships, create memories and get fit – all in one setting,” said Sibrena.
In a regular 30-minute circuit programme catering to women of all ages, Sibrena said her clients use hydraulic machines that work in promoting strength training, as well as aerobic boards.
With a fitness tech present to assist with the personalised workout experiences, the gym’s team aims to acknowledge the expectations and goals of each member.
Having heard a lot of success stories due to the programme, Sibrena said there are regulars that choose to participate in the workout month after month.
She describes the experience of giving other persons a better physique as well as peace of mind as life-changing,
“If you want to feel better, have more energy and perhaps even live longer, look no further than exercise. The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore. And the benefits of exercise are yours for the taking, regardless of your age, gender or physical ability. Exercise generally promotes good overall health. It controls and maintains weight, combats health conditions and diseases, and it also boosts energy and improves moods,” said Sibrena.
With 2016 just days away, Sibrena advised readers to always remember that if you take care of your body it will be beneficial to your overall wellbeing.
“Thirty minutes a day can make a dramatic difference. Eat well and be consistent in your workout and you will see and feel the improvement. The best project you can ever work on is you,” said Sibrena.
