WORLD-leading sprinter Shavez Hart, horizontal jumper Tamara Myers, hurdler/sprinter Devynne Charlton and sprinter Carmiesha Cox were in the spotlight at the Razorback Invitational in the Randal Tyson Track Complex over the weekend.

The event was hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Hart, still owner of the world-leading time of 20.76 seconds in the men’s 200 metres, led the way at the meet by winning the 60m in 6.71. The Texas A & M Aggies’ senior had the third fastest time of 6.70 in the preliminaries and the fourth quickest time in the semi-final in 6.76.

And in the 200m, Hart placed sixth overall in 21.01.

Hart, a Grand Bahama native, also ran the third leg of the Aggies’ 4 x 400m relay team that ran 3:08.23 for the victory.

Myers, a senior at Arkansas, finished second in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 13.40m. The Andros native also contested the 60m for speed, producing a time of 7.55 for 10th in the semi-final of the 60m. She failed to advance to the final. In the preliminaries, Myers had the 14th fastest time of 7.60 in the preliminaries.

Charlton and Cox, the Purdue University Boilermakers sophomores, were matched up in the 200m. The duo are ranked in the Atlantic 10 conference in their respective events.

While Cox came in 15th overall in 24.27, Charlton was 19th in 24.64.

Cox, running the third leg, helped the Boilermakers take fourth place in the 4 x 400m relay in 3:38.89 for fourth place as they just missed erasing Purdue’s school record that they set the week before.

Charlton also had a second place finish in her specialty in the 60m hurdles in 8.30. She had the fastest qualifying time of 8.37 in the semi-final and 8.40 to post the fastest time in the preliminaries.

Also at the meet was Arkansas’ sophomore Trae Carey, who placed third in the men’s long jump with a leap of 7.47m.
