THE excitement is expected to continue at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium today with the second game in all four divisions in the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools’ best-of-three championships.

After a day off, the Queen’s College Lady Comets will try to find a way to contain the Kingsway Academy Lady Saints.

The Saints took game one 42-16 as Tanae Bowleg and Alana Pinder led the attack. Ramona Hanna, Tyler Lightbourne and Lorrain Russell provided the spark for the Lady Comets. The Lady Saints are out to duplicate last year’s perfect season and, so far, they seem to be right on target.

There was even more fireworks in the junior boys’ division as the St Augustine’s College Big Red Machine held off the Aquinas College Aces as Makarios Russell and Cornelius Cylde came up big down the stretch in their slim 43-36 decision.

Tahj Moss, John Nixon and Lynden Gibson paced the way for the Aces.

The Big Red Machine are the defending champions, but the Aces feel this is their time to shine.

In the senior girls’ division, the Big Red Machine rolled past the Jordan Prince William Falcons for an even closer 25-23 victory as Isis Wilson and Dawn Dean came through offensively as Serena Brown anchored the defence.

Brionate Riley and Thyrell Thompson paced the attack for Jordan Prince Williams.

SAC is out to repeat as champions, but the Falcons are hoping to ruin their parade.

And in the highly contested senior boys’ division, the St Johns Giants pulled off a nail biting 69-67 win over Queen’s College. Bryan Clarke and Dwight Wheatley provided the 1-2 spark for the winners.

Kofiannan King and Dhylan Culmer were the leaders for the Comets.

As the defending champions, the Comets have a lot to prove, having fallen behind the pennant winning Giants.

If the opening games in the series on Monday night were any indication, expect for the action to heat up even more today.

The junkanoo music was rocking all throughout the gym and the fans were boisterous as they cheered for their favourite teams. It was so loud that the coaches could hardly issue the instructions to their players.

Basketball was definitely at its highest level and it will only get better today as teams either win or go home in the series that would finish on Thursday if there is a third and deciding game.
