Christie: If Miller wants to walk out, PLP is a revolving door

ALTHOUGH Prime Minister Perry Christie does not believe that Tall Pines MP Leslie Miller is really serious about leaving the Progressive Liberal Party, he says the organisation operates as a revolving door and persons can “walk out or walk in”.

Mr Christie – who was in Grand Bahama on Thursday – described Mr Miller as “too much of a PLP” when asked his feelings about the MP threatening to quit the party if government does not stop copper export from the Bahamas.

Mr Miller has been pleading with the government for years to ban cooper export as he, with other business owners, has suffered millions of dollars in losses because of copper thefts. He complained that his “cries have fallen on deaf ears”.

Following an impassioned plea in the House of Assembly this week, Mr Miller told The Tribune: “I am sick and tired of begging the government to do something about this vexing problem.

“This is not the PLP that I know, this is not the government I signed up to become a part of. As a member of the PLP, I am concerned about this and I may go elsewhere if nothing is done.”

Mr Christie indicated that he has been in public life for 40 years and “I have seen them come and I have seen them go; I have seen them threaten to come and threaten to go; I have seen them promise to come and promise to go.

“I don’t accept Leslie Miller, who has put so much into the PLP, could be really serious about that,” the prime minister added.

Mr Christie said Mr Miller knows how to get decisions made by the government of the Bahamas.

“I asked him a question in the middle of his speech (in the House) as to whether the existing rules we have in place, where people are required to have a licence, where (the Department of) Customs investigates and asks all the right questions, whether that is sufficient. As a result of his discussion, I have asked for them to advise me on it.”

“Leslie is too much of a PLP to seriously contemplate leaving the PLP – that is out of the question. What Leslie Miller knows better than me is that the PLP operates as a revolving door; the door swings out and swings in, you just walk out and walk in. That is what it is all about.”

................... Perry Christie Moves Slower Than A Sauropodamorphs Dinosaur ...............

Cuba is moving at the speed of light to reposition itself as the # 1 tourism destination in the region.

They accomplished more in just 2 months than the PLP accomplished in 3 years.

At this rate Bahamas will continue the downward spiral in tourism as other countries that caught up with, and zoomed by us are continuing making adjustments to their tourism product while Christie takes YEARS just to formulate a thought.

If President Obama moved as slow as Christie, the USA would still be in deep recession and would have long ago collapsed...........Exactly where we're headed now!

We need to quickly get rid of Christie and the old boys dinosaur club and get agile individuals like Rollins, Moss, Wells and others with "no hidden skeletons to protect," and new innovative thinking at the helm.

Please don't tell me "they don't have enough experience". The PLP took over the government in 1965 devoid of any experience and 95% of them were nowhere near as educated and well rounded as Rollins, Moss, Wells and several others there now!

What has Ingraham and Christies so called "experience" yielded to date?...Gross stupidity!

Even whilst still Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, I knew it would come to end this way with the "self-described" Pot cake.
Comrade Prime Minister's patience is running razor thin with my MP "Pot cake" Leslie indeed.
It's pure foolishness for the Tall Pines House of Assembly member and BEC Chairman to think I can any longer permit him to sit in the House as a PLP member, or be allowed continue on as the politically appointee BEC Chairman, because otherwise other PLP MP's and God forbid, even the loyalty of my cabinet ministers will be tested - by more than just the one Minster who done been writing his dissatisfaction letter to me.
But if I as PM do not part company with Pot cake, will I run the even greater risk to encourage others from within and without the party, to bring irrevocably damage to the PLP franchise - come the 2017 General Elections?
As prime minister I cannot be viewed as: It's either the "Pot cake" Leslie, or you PM - that has to go?"
