Students at CR Walker yesterday became the beneficiaries of 20 brand new Dell computers in the third instalment of Island Luck’s nationwide computer drive.

The presentation was made by Island Luck general manager Adrianna Fox to Principal T Nicola McKay and other school officials in front of a packed courtyard of students.

“Education plays an important role in providing us with knowledge. It removes our doubt, and prepares us for the real world,” Ms Fox said during the presentation.

“At Island Luck, we are very passionate about contributing to the betterment of our Bahamian people. We hope that the computers that we are donating today assist with the growth and development of your young minds and pave the future for a stronger Bahama land.”

Mrs McKay said she was very excited about “corporate sponsors who realize the importance of education and realize that education is a partnership”.

“We in the schools cannot do it alone,” she said, “the government does not have all of the money that it needs to inject into all of the schools.

Mrs McKay said: “So when corporate sponsors come forth to assist the cause of our children, I get very excited. We at CR Walker are very grateful to Island Luck for selecting CR Walker for their list of donations.”

CR Walker is the third school to receive free computers from Island Luck, behind EP Roberts and Anatol Rodgers.

According to Ms Fox, RM Bailey is next on the list.

Last month, Island Luck CEO Sebas Bastian said the company would be moving “very rapidly” throughout New Providence and the Family Islands as they conduct their giveaways.

However, he said that schools in dire need of computers and other necessities such as books need only reach out to the company in order to benefit from the giveaways.

“We’re not turning away anyone,” he said. “Not just government schools, even private schools. At the end of the day we want to reach the kids and education is our number one goal in pushing our Island Luck initiative. It’s all about the year of the E’s: educate, empower, and earn, and that’s what we’re promoting so far this year in terms of our initiatives.”
