POLICE shot a woman in the arm after the car she was in nearly hit an officer as it fled the scene of a traffic accident.
A man in a wheelchair and a silver Nissan Sentra, occupied by a man and woman, were involved in an accident at Carmichael Road sometime after 10pm on Monday, according to reports.
Police say the vehicle refused to stop at the scene and sped off. Officers in the area chased the suspects and caught up with the them in the area of High Tree Estates off Carmichael Road.
According to police, the driver attempted to knock down an officer who got out his vehicle. The officer, in fear of his life, fired several shots at the vehicle with his police service weapon.
However, the suspects did not stop.
The woman passenger was later dropped off at the hospital with a gunshot wound in her left shoulder, according to reports, which indicate that she is in stable condition.
Police are still searching for the male driver of the vehicle. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

The police in Nassau seem to think they can just stand in front of a vehicle and it will stop, and if it does not stop they feel they have the right to shoot everyone in the vehicle - they have lost their freaking minds.
