Armed robbery suspects recovering after being shot by police

TWO armed robbery suspects are recovering in hospital after they were shot by police early on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 1am, a man reportedly drove his vehicle to a tyre shop on Minnie Street to have four tyres repaired when two men, armed with a handgun, attempted to rob him.

The victim ran but was chased by the suspects, who fired several shots at him. Officers in the area confronted the suspects, who in turn fired several shot at the police.

Officers returned fire, hitting both men. They were taken to hospital where they are under heavy police guard and in serious condition. Police also recovered a handgun from the scene. Investigations continue.

Police in Eleuthera are on the hunt for an American man after he allegedly shot a Bahamian man in Current Island on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, around 3pm, a man was at his home on Current Island when an American man who he knew, armed with a handgun, shot him several times in his back before fleeing on foot.

The victim was taken to the local clinic and later airlifted to hospital in New Providence, where he remains in serious condition.

Police launched an island-wide manhunt for the suspect and are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information they might have regarding this incident.
