FOUR men convicted last year of murder and armed robbery in the Supreme Court were sentenced on Friday, with two of them receiving prison terms of 50 and 40 years for the murder of Cash for Gold employee Christopher Outten.
Natario Walkins, 25, Valentino Bethel, 22, Sean Zhivargo Collie, 39, and Harrison Walkins, 26, were on trial in the Supreme Court last November.
Natario Walkins and Bethel were found guilty of murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery and murder. Collie and Harrison Walkins were found guilty on the conspiracy charge.
During evidence given at the trial, Outten and his wife, who were employed at US Gold/Cash for Gold in the Jireh Plaza, had left the store around 4pm on January 19, 2013. They stopped at the AMTs of two banking institutions before heading home.
On arrival at their residence, Mr Outten was approached by a masked gunman and ordered to get down. His wife escaped and ran to a neigbour’s house for help. When she returned, she found that her husband had been shot.
During Friday’s sentencing, Senior Justice Hartman Longley sentenced Natario Walkins and Valentino Bethel to jail terms of 50 and 40 years, respectively, for murder. Both were sentenced to 25 years for armed robbery, and 15 years for conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery.
Sean Zhivago Collie and Harrison Walkins were both sentenced to 15 years for conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery.
