FIREFIGHTERS found a body burned beyond recognition after extinguishing a structural fire yesterday evening.
Police believe the dead person is a man.
According to Fire Chief Walter Evans, police were called to the scene of a structural fire just after 7pm.
The fire occurred at a building in the area of Rock Crusher and Saunders Road, police said.
Three units responded and officers found the top section of a concrete, split level structure engulfed in flames.
After firefighters put out the blaze, they found the body inside the building, the fire chief said.
Mr Evans said it is too early to say what caused the blaze or if the fire was intentionally set.
He said the incident has been classified as a death by fire pending further investigations.
The incident marked the first fire death of the year.
