Re: Request for Police Presence for the General Public that Exercise from Montagu Beach to Goodman’s Bay
It is with deep concern that this letter is being written, as due to the increase in the volume of theft, burglary and vandalism many persons of the General Public who exercise on a consistent basis, between Goodman’s Bay and Montagu Beach during the early morning hours have been subject to criminal violations to their vehicles and person.
The members of the public that make up the population within the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, are outraged and disillusioned by the lack of Police presence within these areas. The persons that engage in exercise activities are reluctant to venture from their homes, as these areas are no longer safe to park.
The recent rash of vandalism, theft and burglary, where persons became victims are in such areas as Montagu Beach, East Bay Shopping Centre, Fowler Street, East Bay Street, IBM Building near Paradise Island Bridge, Arawak Cay, Saunders Beach Parking Lot and Goodman’s Bay Parking Lot.
We have written to the Minister of National Security for the Ministry to have The Royal Bahamas Police Force (Commissioner Greenslade) assign police officers, to conduct bicycle and foot patrols within these areas immediately.
The following communication is being forwarded for publication, so that it will bring awareness to the Government and The Royal Bahamas Police Force.
I thank you for your prompt attention to the aforementioned.
