TWO American men were rescued after being stranded on a tiny uninhabited island in The Bahamas on Tuesday.

The two men had been moving a motorboat, called “Bye-Luv Ya-Sea Ya” from the Turks & Caicos Islands to Fort Pierce, Florida, when it began taking on water.

The men ran the struggling boat aground on Lady Slipper Cay, a tiny island north of Crooked Island.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued the pair on Tuesday afternoon after receiving a request for assistance from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

A statement from the Coast Guard said the Americans were in good health.

The statement said: “A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew forward deployed in The Bahamas arrived on scene, landed, and took the two men safely aboard.

“Once aboard the Jayhawk helicopter, the men were transported to Great Inagua.”
