POLICE are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man found hanged in his bedroom early yesterday morning.
According to reports, around 2.30am, police received information that a man was found dead at his Melvern Drive home in the Yellow Elder subdivision.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of the victim lying on his bedroom floor with a rope tied around his neck. Police suspect that the victim hanged himself and was “cut down” by relatives who discovered the body before police arrived.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean said initial investigations point to suicide, but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
