THE Ranfurly Home for Children yesterday became the beneficiary of 16 brand new Dell computers in the latest donation from Island Luck’s nationwide computer drive.
Island Luck also donated furniture to aid in refurbishing the Ranfurly Home’s dining room, according to company officials.
The presentation was made by Island Luck General Manager Adrianna Fox and Financial Manager Alia Sands to the Ranfurly Home’s Administrator Alexander Roberts. The computers were donated as a part of Island Luck’s IL Cares Foundation.
Ms Fox said the computer donations were a “continuation” of the good relationship between the Ranfurly Home and Island Luck.
“We basically want the kids to have more access to do their homework and have more access to the internet to do their research and also for fun,” Ms Fox said.
“We always donate to the Ranfurly Home. In the Christmas we do our toy drives, we do our turkey and ham (giveaways), and then we’re going to do some renovations to the dining room. We actually already donated some dining room chairs, so it’s just a continuation of our relationship with the Ranfurly Home.”
Mr Roberts, in receiving the computers, said the Ranfurly Home is “always happy to accept donations from individuals as well as corporate sponsors.”
“As mentioned, the Island Luck organisation has helped us at Christmas time, making donations of food and stuff like that,” he said. “So now, with the donation of these computers, you know we’re in the technological age, and for the children to be able to do their research, etc, computers are an important aspect of their school and daily life. We are grateful to Island Luck for this donation, and we look forward to more donations in the future.”
So far, schools that have benefitted from Island Luck’s computer donations are Anatol Rodgers, EP Roberts, CR Walker, and RM Bailey.
Island Luck CEO Sebas Bastian previously said the company would be moving “very rapidly” throughout New Providence and the Family Islands as they conduct their giveaways. However, he said schools in dire need of computers and other necessities need only reach out to the company in order to benefit.
