POLICE have classified the death of man who was hit by a truck during an argument with another man on Friday night as a homicide, according to Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle.

This latest death pushed the country’s murder count to 82 for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.

According to police reports, shortly after 8pm on Friday, the victim was involved in a fight with another man on Poinciana Drive that resulted in the man hitting him with a truck. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

Police have reported that they have a 38-year-old man in custody assisting officers with their investigations into the incident.

Chief Supt Rolle, head of the Central Detective Unit, said on Sunday: “We’re treating it as a homicide. Once (the investigation) is complete we will give a final position on that. But as I said, the investigation is ongoing.”

Police have not released the identity of the victim.
