THE popular Bahamas Humane Society’s Summer Fun Photography Contest is returning for a sixth year, with the focus on a range of animal-related subjects and a special “Rescue Story” category where applicants can tell their tale through words and pictures.
Entries are open to photographers of all skills and ages in four categories and the seven topics from which to choose include Potcakes, Animals, Nature, Marvellous Faces, Vacation Snapshots, Underwater, The Bond (any connection between animals or animals and people). The Rescue Story, in which the story of the rescue must be attached, is not subject to age restriction.
There will be a prize giving ceremony on September 12 at the Nassau Yacht Club, where the winning photos will be on display and ribbons awarded to the top three in each category and age/skill level.
Aspiring (10 and under), junior (11-16), adult (17 and up) and professional photographers (who make a living through photography) can enter with a $10 fee per image and entry form attached to the back of each photograph. The deadline for submissions is September 4. Mr Photo and Bahamas Local are competition sponsors.
Submissions can be dropped off at any Mr Photo location (Palmdale, Oakes Field and Market and Bay Streets); the Bahamas Humane Society shelter on Dunmore Avenue, Chippingham; Graham Real Estate, Shirley Street and Victoria Avenue; Windermere West, Caves Village; and Windermere East, Harbour Bay Plaza.
