THE country’s murder count now stands at 68 following the shooting death of a 39-year-old man in Grand Bahama yesterday.

The victim, a resident of Bass Lane, was discovered with multiple gunshot injuries shortly after 9pm on Tuesday at Bass Lane and Murchinson Drive.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they observed a man lying on his back with apparent gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to Rand Memorial Hospital where he later died of his injuries around 3am on Wednesday.

Police have not released the man’s identity, but it is believed that he is Antonio “Babes” Williams. This latest incident pushes Grand Bahama’s homicide count to six.

No arrest has been made and police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, police in Grand Bahama are also investigating an armed robbery in the Holmes Rock area.

Sometime around 10am on Tuesday, a male resident of Holmes Rock reported that while at his residence he was held up at gunpoint by three armed masked men who demanded cash.

The man told police that the culprits were wearing dark clothing; two of them were armed –one with a handgun and the other a shotgun.

Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that the man was reportedly robbed of cash, cellular phones, and his Chevy Silverado truck, which was later located by police in the Hepburn Town area.

She said police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them in their investigation into the murder and the armed robbery to call 1-242-350-3107, 911/919 or call the nearest police station.
