GRAND Bahama police officially released the identity of the man shot and killed last week on the island as Antonio Williams, aka “Babes”, of No 7 Bass Lane.
Williams’s death marked the sixth murder for the year in Grand Bahama.
Last Tuesday, police were called to investigate a shooting at Bass Lane and Murchinson Drive around 9pm. When officers arrived, they discovered Williams lying on his back with gunshot wounds in his body. He was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where he died around 3am on Wednesday.
In other crime news, last Friday police conducted an operation in the Garden Villas, Bass Lane, Weddell Avenue and Hearne Lane areas, which are hot spots for criminal activity.
Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that eight persons were arrested for various criminal offences, including possession of dangerous drugs, housebreaking and vagrancy.
