FORMER Fort Charlotte MP Alfred Sears was tight-lipped yesterday about his future in the constituency amid calls for him to return as Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) representative for the area after Dr Andre Rollins' resigned from the party.
When Dr Rollins' fiery criticism of the Christie Administration began to ruffle his party last year, calls for Mr Sears return to the constituency grew. In response, the former Attorney General said that while he would serve his party in any way it sees fit, he wants to remain a team player, seeking not to disrupt the party's ongoing representation in the Fort Charlotte constituency.
Asked on Friday for his reaction to Dr Rollins' resignation and calls for him to return, Mr Sears had no comment.
On Thursday, PLP trust and former area constituency Valentine Grimes challenged Dr Rollins to resign from his seat and allow constituents to "choose the representative they deserve."
He urged the MP to "do the right things and allow the residents of the great Fort Charlotte a chance to get their voice back" through a by-election.
Mr Grimes had headed the PLP disciplinary committee responsible for determining Dr Rollins' fate in the party last year following his criticism of Mr Christie.
He was also among those instrumental in getting Dr Rollins nominated for the Fort Charlotte seat in the lead-up to the last general election.
