FOUR men were arraigned on a number of housebreaking and stealing charges in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Anthony Higgs, 30, of Pioneers Way; Christopher Stuart, 24, of Holmes Rock; Cordell Tarless, 28, of Hudson Estate; and Shemeque Hall, 26, of Pioneers Way appeared before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson.
They were charged with three counts of housebreaking and three counts of stealing from a dwelling. They all pleaded guilty to the charges and were sentenced to five years probation on each count.
Magistrate Ferguson ordered the men to compensate the complainants, and also ordered them to pay a $500 donation each to the Bahamas Humane Society, Church of God Senior Citizens Home, and to the Burrows Home for the Aged.
If they are found in default of the order, the men will have to serve one year on each count at the Department of Correctional Services in New Providence.
The matter was adjourned to June 24, 2020 for a review.
The four men were also arraigned in a separate court before Magistrate Rengin Johnson on additional stealing and housebreaking matters.
They all pleaded not guilty to three counts of housebreaking and five counts of stealing from a dwelling.
The case was adjourned to September 1, 2015 for trial. All were remanded to the Department of Correctional Services in New Providence until that time.
