Police road checks net 91 Grand Bahama motorists

GRAND Bahama police have cited 91 people for various traffic violations as a result of road check exercises in the past two days.

Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that officers of the Eastern District set up a road check on East Sunrise Highway and Seahorse Road around noon on Wednesday and that officers of the Traffic Division conducted ‘Operation School Zone’ on Thursday at East Sunrise Highway and Coral Road. Additionally, a 30-year old male resident of Eight Mile Rock was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs.

Officers of the Eight Mile Rock Division conducted a road check on Queens Highway in Bartlett Hill, where a number of people were also cited for various traffic infractions.

Inspector Pinder said the Royal Bahamas Police Force is urging the motoring public to adhere to the traffic laws and rules. They are also encouraging motorists to wear their seat belts and to drive within the speed limit.

In Abaco, police also cited a number of people for traffic violations during a road check exercise at Crockett Drive and Don McKay Boulevard on Thursday afternoon.
