POLICE took four men into custody after they seized an illegal firearm from a home with five live rounds of ammunition on Saturday.
Shortly before 9pm, police said they carried out a search warrant on a residence at Quarry Mission where they uncovered the weapon and the ammunition. The men were taken into custody a short while later for questioning.
In another incident, police said they went to a bushy area at Joe Farrington Road where they uncovered a handgun with eight live rounds of ammunition.
Authorities made the discovery on Friday. No one has been arrested for connection with this find, police said.
Meanwhile, eight people were arrested for various offences during a special operation early Saturday, under the leadership of Chief Superintendent Ashton Greenslade.
The offences included possession of dangerous drugs, housebreaking, causing harm and outstanding court warrants.
