First of four pennants decided in AID Basketball Classic

THE first of four pennants were decided on Saturday as the Baptist Sports Council’s 2015 AID Basketball Classic starts to wind down.

On Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex, defending champions St John’s clinched the 15-and-under pennant with a 33-12 rout over Macedonia to finish the regular season with a perfect 4-0 win-loss record. With the loss, Macedonia fell to 2-2 as they sit in third place.

BIBA is holding onto second place at 3-1, but the fourth and final playoff spot will not be decided until 10am Saturday when Eagles Nest and Mt Tabor clash in a battle of two winless teams at 0-3. The winner will get the fourth spot for the playoffs and the loser will be eliminated.

This is the final weekend of play in the regular season before the BSC takes a break for the Easter holiday weekend. The best-of-three playoffs are scheduled to start on Saturday, April 11.

Pennants still on the line are in the 19-and-under division where Cousin McPhee lead with a perfect 5-0 record, as well as the men’s A and B divisions. In the men’s A, Macedonia is leading at 3-1, but both Faith United and New Mount Zion (both 2-1) and Cousin McPhee (1-1) are still eligible. The men’s B pennant will be decided between the Eagles Nest (3-0), Men of Vision (2-1) and Evangelistic Center (1-1).
