Atlantis holds another blood drive

THE Water Features department at Atlantis held another life-saving blood drive in conjunction with Princess Margaret Hospital and Doctors Hospital blood banks. Some 85 pints of blood were donated over the course of three days.

“We are ever so grateful for every drop of blood donated. Every drop counts,” the department said. “Every year we hope to increase our numbers by expanding the locations and this year we were at Dolphin Cay as well as Water Features’ Fish Hospital in the Royal Towers. We appreciate all the staff that makes the effort to come out and donate blood, even those that attempted but could not give due to various health reasons. We are especially grateful to the people who are afraid of some part of the process, but insist on giving blood anyway.”

Water Features said they want their colleagues to recognise the importance of donating blood.

“A pint of blood can save up to three lives. We want to encourage all of our colleagues to become regular blood donors. You can donate blood every eight weeks and there are many benefits. Giving blood regularly forces your body to renew itself; forces your body to repair and replace old and broken components; encourages newer and healthier blood cells which are better at fighting off illness, viruses and diseases,” they said.

“We hope to have even greater participation next time. Please look out for our next event later in the year. Once again we would like to say a special thank you to our champion blood donors.”
