SHE first came to audiences’ attention in the critically acclaimed Bahamian film “Rain” by Maria Govan. Since then, Shervante Nixon – also known as Miss B – has been paving a path for herself with humorous videos, steadily working towards becoming an online sensation and tapping into a new, lucrative market.

Shervette started with a professional career in modelling several years ago, but when that proved unfulfilling she switched gears.

For those who have not heard of her, Shervante’s comedic character goes by the name of Miss B and she is adamant about making her known all across the Bahamas.

“My start into entertainment was as a working model. I worked for Miami Model Productions in Miami, Florida in 2008. I also attended Culmers Model School in Nassau in 2010. I was a natural at modelling, however I wasn’t fulfilled and decided to change my path into another direction of arts, which is acting,” she told Tribune Woman.

Shervante said she always loved being the centre of attention as a child and she knew she would one day entertain many people with her talent.

“At the age of five my mom would always catch me in front of the mirror practicing different faces – sad ones, mad ones, surprised ones. I would gather the family around and make up different scenarios on the spot and act them out. At this age I can really say I realised I was meant to be a performer,” she said.

“I just always knew that working in entertainment was for me, I loved the fact that I could make people feel different emotions, and I knew I wanted to do that for the rest of my life. So when the opportunity for ‘Rain’ came in high school, I snagged the role instantly.”

Shervante said one of things she enjoys most about acting is the ability to become someone else.

“Being able to have the same emotions, personality and traits of someone else is just amazing to me. I am in love with the craft, and being able to combine the art and make it a profitable venture is the best part; fighting against the stereotype of starving artists,” she said.

“I love meeting with new clients and showing them how we can connect their brand to over 100,000 Bahamians.”

Apart from her acting gigs, one highlight of her acting career so far has been the launch of the very first Miss B’s World video titled “The Morning After”.

“The video went viral and is being recognised all over the world as a teaching tool by pastors, singles, teachers and the list goes on. It has been viewed over one million times and I am very proud of its success,” she said.

Just recently Shervante launched a new venture for her acting career by incorporating brands into Miss B’s World.

“We do a mix of product placements and full commercials with a Miss B Flare. This way the Bahamian businesses can display their business/product in a much more captivating way to reach their target market via social media. We have worked with LMW Studios, Lashes & Nails by Crystal. These brands benefit because Miss B’s World not only showed the video on our platform but also wrote, produced and filmed the video, thus keeping production costs at a minimum and allowing clients to stretch their marketing dollars. The videos are formatted so they can be used even on television,” she said.

“I want to continue to use my acting to encourage Bahamian businesses to utilise social media methods to gain more customers, whether with our video productions team or our product placements. Most business don’t realise the huge opportunity there is. Facebook has over 100,000 Bahamians waiting to be entertained and be introduced to their company.”
