POLICE on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old man for firearm possession following a shooting incident that ended in another man in hospital.
Shortly after 10pm a man was standing on Tyler Street when the occupants of a white van shot him in the hip and sped off, according to reports.
While the victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in stable condition, officers responded to reports that the suspects had been spotted in a white van in the area. When they arrived, the occupants of the van fled on foot. One was caught and had his handgun confiscated.
On Thursday, police also arrested four male watersports operators and three adult male taxi drivers for having dangerous drugs and supplying them. The men were found in possession of a quantity of cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy pills.
The operation came after conducting an operation on Paradise Island aimed at targeting people suspected of selling dangerous drugs.
Police officers arrested three men in the Marshall Road area after finding them with a quantity of household appliances, electronics, jewellery and tools which they had allegedly stolen from two homes in the area that had been broken into. Officers of the Southeastern Division also arrested four other people for stealing, threats of death and outstanding criminal warrants.
