BAHAMIAN Justin Roberts and his University of South Florida partner Oliver Pramming advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championship Round of 16 with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Harvard’s Denis Nguyen and Brian Yeung yesterday.
“It was really a high-level match,” head coach Matt Hill said. “They played one of the best returning teams in the country, which makes for a tough match for us because we rely on our serves a lot.”
Freshman Roberts and Pramming, a senior from Denmark, cruised through the first set and responded in the decisive third set to improve to 18-10 this season.
The 28th-ranked duo have won nine of their past 11 matches. “The guys were really resilient,” Hill said. “They kept problem solving and it was really great to see their toughness and intelligence come out in the match.”
Roberts and Pramming are slated to face Michigan State’s Harry Jadun-John and Patrick Mullane 1pm (EST) today at Hurd Tennis Center.
