EVEN if a complete “renewing of the mind” was not achieved, organisers of the first ever Princess Conference are confident that the necessary seeds were sown in the lives of young girls who attended the event to inspire and encourage them to reach their fullest potential.

The conference was hosted by The Affirmation Nation (TAN), a group made up of young ladies ranging in age from 11 to 17.

TAN hosts numerous initiatives aimed at assisting young girls in discovering their God-given purpose and help them achieve their dreams.

Shema Poitier, founder of TAN, said the event’s success is encouraging and they are honoured to have made an impact on the lives of the young girls.

“Parents and princesses are still raving about the value and worth they were made to feel, how they came to appreciate while receiving words of praise and worthy affirmation during the crowning ceremony. All teenage ladies were crowned with tiaras and given a rose while being inducted as the first official members of The Affirmation Nation, as a symbolic representation of them being affirmed as young ladies of distinction, honour and royalty,” Ms Poitier told Tribune Woman.

One of the main things participants took away from the event, she said, was that they must be stewards of excellence.

“They must endeavour to put their best foot forward every time. They were also reassured that even when they seemingly fail that they must look to God on the inside of them to find the strength to continue trying until they succeed. They took away dream boards to act as a constant reminders and encouragement towards them fulfilling their dreams and goals,” she said.

Presenters at the conference included Raenell Wells, founder of Ladies Leading Into Excellence (LLITE), and Keshelle Davis, trainer and entrepreneur.

TAN is now gearing up for its next symposium to be held on November 28.

The symposium’s topic will be “Living My Dream Life” with the sub-theme of “How to Choose a Career”, and will feature guest presenter Simmone L Bowe, founder and director of Life Success Principles. The affirmation self-actualisation course – designed especially for TAN princesses – will also be presented.

The symposium will be a time of educational and social development for the young ladies and lots of fun with special surprise music artists being served, Ms Poitier said.

A venue for the event will be announced at a later date.

TAN is a mentorship and leadership skills development programme for teenage girls. Workshops, tutorials and seminars are held every third Saturday of the month starting November 28.

“We are also asking for your continued prayers as well as even more financial support from corporate Bahamas so that we may be empowered to fulfil our mission. We would like to thank some of our corporate sponsors and friends including JS Johnson, Tripoint Communications, Tint Vision, Platinum Sports Bar & Lounge, Bahamas Harvest Church, Super Value, Mario’s, Elevation Media Group, Wally’s Convenience Store and Edison Sumner,” she said.
