ALTHOUGH Hurricane Joaquin did its best to prevent the highly anticipated 2015 instalment of Paint the Lanes Pink from happening, the expo went ahead successfully.
While organisers of the annual event, which is focused on raising awareness of breast cancer and supporting the fight against the deadly disease, had to cancel day one of the expo on Friday, they were open for business on the Saturday.
Held at Mario’s Bowling & Entertainment Palace, Paint the Lanes Pink offered patrons the opportunity to browse and buy from local businesses, as the expo featured more than 70 exhibitors. Those exhibitors’ booths displayed jewellery, beauty and cosmetics, children’s and ladies apparel, clutches and handbags, cupcakes and sweets, hair accessories, health and fitness articles, home décor, money management tips, natural hair products, shoes, spa products, undergarments and lingerie – all in support of breast cancer awareness.
And for a fee of $20, Mario’s Bowling dedicated a bowling lane in honour of someone who is battling breast cancer or has lost their fight to the disease.
“(The) event is committed to supporting breast cancer awareness, patient and family care, and educating persons about the importance of early detection. This event allows us to celebrate, empower and educate through community togetherness. We aim to celebrate and honour the lives of women and men whom breast cancer has touched, through music, fashion, entertainment, and the power of knowledge,” organisers said.
