BAISS Softball: Cougars making presence felt

THE Charles W Saunders Cougars are making their presence felt in the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools’ softball league.

Yesterday, Elvardo Curry fired a no-hitter as the Cougars junior boys shut out the St John’s College Giants at Charles W Saunders High. With the win, the junior boys improved their record to 2-3, while the Giants remained at the bottom of the pile at 0-5.

And over at St John’s College, the Cougars senior girls roared past the Giants 24-5 as Megan Grant got the win on the mound. Grant also helped her own cause by joining Shania Sturrup and Kenisha Kelly as they all led their offensive attack with home runs. The Cougars senior girls improved to 3-2 and the Giants remained winless.

The victory for the two Charles W Saunders teams came after the Cougars senior boys knocked off the Kingsway Academy Saints 25-8. The Cougars are in a battle with the Nassau Christian Academy Crusaders for the pennant after the Crusaders won 14-12 over the St Augustine’s College Big Red Machine at SAC on Monday.

And last week, Charles W Saunders senior girls shut out Kingsway Academy 25-0 as Megan Grant tossed a no-hitter.
