POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who reportedly “fell from a cliff” while fishing on Wednesday.

Shortly after 8pm, police received a report that a man fell while fishing from Clifton Pier.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of a man floating in waters in the area of a dock at Clifton Pier.

The victim’s body was removed from the water and taken to shore, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations are continuing.

Police are also investigating two separate shooting incidents that left two men in hospital Wednesday night.

In the first incident, shortly before 8pm, police said a man was walking on Bellot Road, when a man in a dark vehicle approached and shot him before speeding off.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

In the second incident, shortly after 10pm, police said a man was on Dunmore Street when four men in a grey vehicle approached and shot him before speeding off.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he remains in serious, but stable condition.

Police later arrested a 26–year-old man in connection with this shooting.
