A middle-aged man is the country's 122nd murder victim of the year, after he was shot dead while sitting on his porch on Friday afternoon.
The killing took place on Taylor Street, Nassau Village.
Speaking at the scene, Chief Superintendent of Police Paul Rolle said police received reports of gunshots being fired shortly after 4pm.
“Officers responded, when they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds to the body,” he said. “Upon examination, EMS pronounced him lifeless. Our preliminary investigation is that the young man was sitting on a porch of his residence when three persons pulled up in a Nissan type vehicle, exited wearing tamb masks and armed with handguns entered the yard where the victim was sitting and began discharging shots at him. He was shot multiple times and collapsed on the porch of the residence where he was found and later pronounced dead."
This latest murder means the total killings for this year is just one shy of last year's tally.
2011 saw a record total of 127 murders.

I wonder how Perry Christie, Bernard Nottage and the rest of the PLP would feel if the FNM erected crime billboards around the island.
Thank goodness the FNM has more class and decency than that.
