THE Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS) is all set to head into the playoffs following a hard fought regular season.

Before the postseason gets underway on November 2, the current week will be dedicated to several make up games on the schedule.

Despite the schedule hampered by rain over the past few weeks, several teams have staked their claims as title contenders and pennant winners. This week will decide the pending seeds from two to four.

The Nassau Christian Academy Crusaders lead the league with three division pennant winners, the first time in school history.

The Crusaders senior boys claimed the pennant, but their is still much left to be decided with the remaining seeds.

A pivotal matchup between the Charles W Saunders Cougars and the Jordan Prince William Falcons will determine the second seeds.

A win for the Cougars will mean they claim the second seed. A win for the Falcons will create a three team logjam with the Cougars and St Augustine’s College Big Red Machine.

The runs differential method will be used to decide the tie. That method means the runs scored for minus runs scored against is used and the team with the highest runs scored will be declared the winner of the tie. Once the top team is eliminated it becomes a 2-way tie, which will be decided on the “head to head” game in regular season.

The Big Red Machine are the pennant winners in the senior girls’ division.

The St Anne’s Blue Waves, Queen’s College Comets, St Andrew’s Hurricanes and the Cougars are still deciding the final seeding in the division.

The Cougars and Hurricanes will have a matchup this week in a make-up game.

The Crusaders are once again the pennant winners in the junior boys’ division, however there is much left to be decided.

The Hurricanes, Big Red Machine and Comets are teams still in the hunt to determine final seeding.

The junior girls’ division has the most uncertainty with teams in the hunt and much left to be decided.

The Big Red Machine are the current leaders after finishing the regular season at 4-1.

The Crusaders are 3-1 but will face the winless Hurricanes.

A win for the Crusaders will secure the pennant because they own the tiebreaker with a 7-5 win over the Big Red Machine.

The Kingsway Academy Saints are third and the Comets are ranked fourth.
