THE Bahamas’ 12-and-under girls team of Emma Weech and Perjae Major returned home yesterday after finishing fourth in an international tennis tournament in Curacao. However, they fell short of the opportunity to play in the Masters Event in Mexico in November.
The boys’ team of Denali Nottage and Anthony Burrows Jr ended up sixth overall. Both Curacao’s boys and girls’ teams won the gold. Barbados came in second for the girls and Aruba third. For the boys, Jamaica placed second and St Lucia third.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association made special mention of Weech who was undefeated in all of her singles matches in this tournament and also congratulated our three first-timers Denali Nottage (Freeport), Anthony Burrows Jr and Perjae Major, who all played extremely well.
“Matchplay was extremely competitive and they all showed positive abilities that will continue to develop,” the BLTA said in a press release. “We expect great things from all of them as their tennis journey continues.”
The team was coached by Ceron Rolle.
