THE Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority has denied a report in The Punch that alleged the regulator had “banned” a song by popular singer Kirkland “KB” Bodie from radio airplay.

“URCA advises that it has neither banned nor taken any other action to prevent the airing of any song on any radio station or other content provider. Further, URCA has neither investigated, nor been invited or requested to investigate, any issues connected thereto,” the regulator said in a statement released last night.

“It should be noted that URCA’s jurisdiction does not include any power to censor content prior to its broadcast, and therefore URCA is not empowered to ‘ban’ any content,” the statement added.

“KB” has written several songs, which are meant to be social commentary, that are critical of the current government and the previous Ingraham administration.

Typical small-minded PLP rhetoric ................. they loved KB as long as he was poking fun at the FNM ........... but now the shoe is on the PLP foot and they don't like it .......... KB is right . we have too many jokey leaders in this jokey town ......... FNM, PLP and DNA ...... Time for the U 50 group to step forward and kick these jokers outta da House.

Shows how much Bahamians even understand about what URCA is. If they understood, they would have known that story in the Punch about a song being banned by URCA was a lie.
