THIS week has brought the first signs of Wahoo and Yellowfin Tuna in Nassau and Eleuthera.

It is still early in September, but seeing smaller Wahoo and Yellowfin Tuna being caught, as a fishermen, reignites the excitement and passion of the sport.

Last year’s Wahoo season was extraordinary with many fishermen coming from all over the world to get in on the action. It was normal to see 60-100lb Wahoo being caught on a regular basis.

Word of advice: be ready and prepared now so you are ahead of the game when the bite starts. Research new lures on the market, think about the lures you had the most success with last year and analyse the locations and techniques that you can improve on this year.

Good preparation is the key to to fun and successful fishing.
