A 29-year-old man was shot and killed early on Friday morning while driving through McCullough Corner.
The homicide took place around 2.30am. Officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit, Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, said the victim was driving off East Street when several men attempted to stop him.
“Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 29-year-old male of Yellow Elder Gardens,” Supt Rolle said. “The male was driving a 1993 Toyota Corolla in the area when persons attempted to stop him,” Supt Rolle said.
“He apparently attempted to get away from his assailants, who produced handguns and began discharging shots into his vehicle. He was struck and collided with a wall a short distance away. EMS personnel were called to the scene and pronounced the male dead.”
The country’s murder count now stands at 101 for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.
Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-Tips.

Before reading this story a while ago, i was at home chatting with my brother in Oklahoma, he is a ballistic expert with the police department down there. I told him our murder count had reach 100, he laughed. He said the city of Okla, has 1.5 million people, their murder count is 50 there as I write this today. I didn't see this story yet...ridiculous!

Christie should be made to drive alone (without any police or security escort) in some of the more crime ridden sectors of the over-the-hill area at least once a week between 2:00 A.M. and 4:00 A.M. Same goes for Nottage, Wilchecombe, Maynard-Gibson, Mitchell and our Commissioner of Police. They all need to get some first hand experience of the totally out of control crime their policies have created!
