TWO men appeared in Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged separately in connection with two murders that occurred in the capital.

Ashley Hield, 21, of Strachan’s Corner, stood first before Magistrate Samuel McKinney accused of killing 64-year-old John Frazier between August 24 and 26.

According to initial reports, Frazier was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital on August 24 suffering from injuries to the body. Police said he died in hospital on August 26.

Hield was not required to enter a plea to the charge due to the nature of the offence. His case is to be forwarded to the Supreme Court on November 12 through the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

In another arraignment, 23-year-old Perry Pickering of Dorsette Alley was charged with murder concerning the fatal shooting of Clifford Cartwright and the attempted murder of Marcello McKenzie, who were both wounded on July 26, 2014.

The shooting occurred at 2am on Nassau Street.

Pickering was not required to enter a plea to the charges and returns to Magistrate’s Court on November 12 for the VBI presentation.

Both accused men were remanded to the Department of Correctional Services without bail.

However, they have a right to apply for bail to the Supreme Court.
