16 Jamaican women arrested in police swoop over prostitution

POLICE arrested 16 Jamaican women at two local nightclubs in separate operations in connection with solicitation for prostitution on Saturday night.

According to police reports, in the first operation, seven women were arrested at a nightclub on Madeira Street and another group of nine were taken into custody from an establishment on Robinson Road.

All of the women, authorities said, were taken into custody for alleged prostitution and breaching the Immigration Act.

Police also confiscated a large amount of cash from one of the women, which is believed to be the proceeds of crime.

The owners of both clubs were arrested for breaching the Business License Act and solicitation for prostitution, police said.

On Saturday night, police also arrested eight other people for various offences, including murder, causing harm and possession of dangerous drugs.

I'm going get real angry real soon. Leave the prostitutes alone. Men have scientifically proven sexual needs. These women fulfill those needs. Most of them are just strippers, not prostitutes. The police took their hard earned money, which would have been used to support their children most likely. Amnesty International has decided to support the rights of sex workers. Make love not war. Police. Go after the murderers and leave these poor, despondent women alone. It's very easy to pick on them. Stop being a big bully and do something useful.
